On A Question of Beauty

Imagine for one moment that even a tiny portion of the entire UFO experience encountered by thousands of people from all walks of life across many decades, possibly centuries, is true. I mean, really, really, imagine what that might mean, both to you as an individual and to all of us as a collective people. And now that you have paused for thought, isn’t that realm of UFOs and cosmic possibility a beautiful thing?

Generally speaking, this is where I like to push things in conversation on this impossibly vast subject area. It is a far more revealing basis for speculation, richer in themes raised and, ultimately, paves the way to a more refreshingly naked and humble human space. With such a baseline real magic is not just possible but almost a dead certainty.

Strangely though, bringing the debate to “possibility” is not something that the UFO community itself does enough of when it engages mama mainstream. I’m fed up hearing people banging on about the latest virtually impossible to verify intel whistleblower. I don’t want to hear the same old clattering bones of scientism, hiding behind the comfortable big slipper of “no evidence”. How trite, boring, bland, wasteful and dead-energy-driven a lot of that mainstream (ahem) discussion actually is, seemingly and curiously more pre-occupied with ever greater depths of mud than clarity.

No, what I actually want to hear is greater minds engaging with the realm of possibility, creating some ideas and running with them. Give the thought some energy, something we can all learn from, at the very least we can learn something about us. Is it such a crime to simply ask the questions? Let’s hear the sound of bridges under construction not destruction. Let’s hear a “well, we all might agree or disagree on the what is, but let’s run with the possibilities, let’s ask: what if…?”

And why do I want to hear this? I want to hear it because, ultimately, for all the spilt milk in this subject, the gentle UFO heat remains. For all the decades of moving air, someone or something unknown has been (and continues to) operate in our airspace, in our seas and, at least potentially, in our social space. Our relationship with this phenomenon is an undefined and paranormal one, relating back to an either human or non-human connection. At a most base level, the old cliché still fits comfortably here: we are not alone. What’s more, the possibility is that we’ve never been alone.

Whatever your feelings may be on all this, there’s a remarkable story there - one that surely contains many revelations for all of us. It may sound incredible but the bottom line is that Parvez Jafari did indeed encounter and engage a level of technology that he simply did not understand and could scarcely comprehend. Oscar Santa Maria Huerta was the same - except he actually managed to fire his rockets. Then you have a myriad other witnesses to something... Gordon Cooper, Ray Bowyer, Milton Torres, the people of Phoenix, the people of Colares, the people of Stephenville, on and on and on ad nauseum.

Behind all of this lies a certain cosmic clash beauty. It’s like discovering a magical rabbit-hole on platform 3 as you embark on your daily commute. The situation is an alien one, beyond our ken, yet a deeper compulsion to experience remains - such is the haunting embrace of the human condition and paranormal incidence. And that is precisely where a beauty lies, the realisation that your current vocabulary isn’t so expansive and all-consuming, that a new map might be required here.

Even if you don’t have the words for it, you’re going to think about, you’re going to venture down that rabbit-hole - or not, that’s your call after all, your own journey here. Questions rain down: what might I find there? What will I learn differently about myself and the others around me? What might I learn about this world or other worlds? Can I trust? Can I forgive? How far will I need to reappraise and/or reinvent everything I have hitherto believed?

Don’t underestimate the beauty here. Dare to peer through the hole in the hedge and stare into the eyes of a great, mysterious leveller...
